Frequently Asked Questions

Diamonds

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab grown diamond is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined one, with the same hardness, refractive index and optical behaviour. A gemmologist cannot tell them apart by eye — it takes specialist equipment reading trace growth features.

The difference is origin, and price.

Why are lab grown stones so much cheaper?

Because supply is not constrained. A mined stone carries the cost of finding it; a grown stone carries the cost of making it, which falls as the technology improves.

Who certifies your stones?

Certified diamonds list their laboratory and report number on the product page. Diamonds without a report are clearly marked Non-certified. We can arrange certification on request for an additional $25 per diamond; please allow at least 8–10 days and contact us to confirm the laboratory and dispatch timing. Until a report is issued, the listed specifications are supplier-provided and may differ from the final laboratory grades.

What do the four Cs actually change?

Carat is weight, not size — two 1ct stones can look different sizes depending on cut. Colour and clarity you mostly read off the certificate. Cut is the one you see across a room, and it is where we would spend the money.

Can I see a stone before deciding?

Use the photo and 360° viewer on the product page to inspect your stone. For help comparing diamonds, send us their SKUs, stone numbers or certificate numbers.

Ordering and shipping

How much is shipping?

We ship worldwide with full insurance and an adult signature required. Available delivery options and charges are shown at checkout. See our shipping policy for details.

How long until it arrives?

Certified loose diamonds dispatch within 1–2 business days. Non-certified loose diamonds normally dispatch within 7–10 business days. Optional certification costs an additional $25 per diamond and takes at least 8–10 days; we will confirm your dispatch date when certification is requested. Made-to-order rings take 4–6 weeks. Delivery transit time depends on your destination.

Do you run sales?

No. Every stone is priced once, at the thinnest margin we can carry, and left there. A seasonal discount would only mean the earlier price was padded.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes, we ship worldwide, subject to carrier coverage and destination restrictions. Contact us if your destination is unavailable at checkout.

Rings and sizing

How do I find my ring size?

The most reliable method is having a jeweller measure you. Failing that, measure a ring that already fits the right finger — sizing from a string wrapped round a knuckle is where most mistakes come from.

If you are buying as a surprise, order a size 6 and we will resize once, free, within 60 days.

Can I put any stone in any setting?

No, and the builder will not let you. Each setting is cut for a range of shapes and carat weights, so once you have chosen one you only see stones it can actually hold.

Can a ring be resized later?

Most can, by a size or two. Full eternity bands and some pavé settings cannot be resized without remaking the ring, because stones run the whole way round.

Returns

What can I return?

Loose stones, within 14 days of delivery, unset and unaltered, with their original packaging, intact security seal and any certificate supplied. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

One change-of-mind loose-diamond return per customer in any rolling 60-day period. An eligible return includes a prepaid insured label. A second change-of-mind stone return within that period is not accepted, even if you offer to pay shipping. We never charge a restocking fee. This limit does not affect your rights concerning faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods.

What cannot be returned?

Rings and bands. Every one is made to order — your stone, your setting, your size — so it exists only for you and cannot be resold. That makes it final sale. This is stated at checkout too; we would rather say it twice than have it be a surprise.

Two things you keep: you can cancel a ring order in full within 48 hours of placing it, and anything that arrives damaged or not as described is ours to put right.

What if something arrives damaged?

Tell us within 48 hours with photographs and we will arrange collection and repair or replacement at our cost. Shipments are insured, so this costs you nothing.
