Terms of service
These terms govern your use of claviscarat.com and any purchase you make from it. The site is operated by CLAVIS CARAT, a company registered in Wyoming, United States. "We" and "us" mean CLAVIS CARAT; "you" means you.
By placing an order you accept these terms. Please read the section on availability — it works differently here than at most shops, and it is the one most likely to affect you.
1. Who can buy
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. If you are buying on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
2. Every stone is one stone
This is the important one.
Each diamond listed on this site is a single physical stone, identified by its stone reference or SKU, and its laboratory report number where supplied. There is no second one. Our listings are drawn from live supplier inventory, and a stone can be sold elsewhere in the interval between you adding it to your cart and us confirming your order.
So: your order is an offer to buy, not a completed sale. The contract forms when we send you a dispatch confirmation, not when you pay and not when Shopify sends an order confirmation.
If a stone turns out to be gone, we will tell you promptly and refund you in full, to the original payment method. We will also offer to find you the closest equivalent we can — same shape, weight and grades where possible — but you are under no obligation to take it.
We are not liable for anything beyond that refund if a stone becomes unavailable. We know that is disappointing when it happens; it is the honest consequence of selling unique goods rather than stock items, and we would rather set the expectation here than apologise for it later.
3. Prices and pricing errors
Prices are in US dollars and are shown on each product page. We do not run sales, and we do not raise a price in order to discount it later.
Diamond prices move with the market and we may change them at any time before you order. A change never affects an order we have already accepted.
If a price is obviously wrong, we may cancel rather than honour it. Feed errors, dropped digits and currency mistakes happen — a five-figure stone briefly listed at three figures is a mistake, not an offer. Where a listed price is manifestly incorrect we will cancel the order and refund you in full, and we will tell you what the correct price is so you can decide freely. We will not use this clause to escape an ordinary bargain, only a genuine error.
4. Descriptions, certificates and images
Certified diamonds include their laboratory and report details. Where a product has a grading report, we encourage you to check the linked laboratory verification page before buying. Non-certified diamonds are clearly marked; their specifications are supplier-provided and may differ from the final laboratory grades. Optional certification costs an additional $25 per diamond and takes at least 8–10 days. We will confirm the laboratory and dispatch timing with you.
About what you see on screen:
- Photographs and 360° scans are of the actual stone, supplied by the vault holding it. Screens vary, and no photograph reproduces how a diamond behaves in real light.
- The grade diagrams on our product pages are illustrations, not the stone. They are captioned as such. The difference between neighbouring colour grades is deliberately exaggerated so it is visible on a screen at all, and the clarity plot shows what is typical of a grade rather than this stone's own inclusions. The 360° scan and any grading report supplied record the stone itself.
- Ring images show a representative example of the design. Your ring is made for your stone and your size.
We take care with our descriptions, but we do not warrant that every word on the site is free of error.
5. Orders and payment
Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify Payments or PayPal. We never see or store your full card details.
We may decline or cancel an order — before or after payment — where a stone is unavailable, a price is manifestly wrong, payment cannot be verified, we cannot lawfully ship to your destination, or we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraud. If we cancel, you get a full refund and we tell you why.
High-value orders may require additional identity or address verification before dispatch. This is normal in this trade and protects you as much as us.
6. Rings are made to your specification
Rings and bands are built to order: your stone, your setting, your finger size. They are goods made to your specification and, once in production, cannot be returned. You may cancel within 48 hours of ordering. Full details are in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. Shipping and returns
Our shipping policy and refund policy form part of these terms. Nothing in these terms limits your rights in respect of goods that are faulty or not as described.
8. Accounts
If you create an account, keep your login details to yourself and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has them. You are responsible for activity on your account.
9. Our content
The text, photography, diagrams, code and design on this site belong to us or to our licensors. The grade illustrations in particular are our own drawings, made for this site. You may not copy, republish or use them commercially without our written permission.
Laboratory reports remain the property of the issuing laboratory. IGI, GIA and other marks belong to their owners and are used only to identify who graded a stone.
10. Acceptable use
Do not use this site to break the law, to scrape or overload it, to interfere with its security, or to misrepresent who you are. We may suspend access where any of that happens.
11. What we do not promise
The site is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not responsible for third-party services we link to — including laboratory verification pages and supplier-hosted 360° viewers.
Nothing here is investment advice. Diamonds, lab grown or mined, should be bought because you want them, not as a financial instrument. We make no representation about resale value.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit or of opportunity.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, and disputes are subject to the courts of that state.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, nor of the right to bring proceedings where you live.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force when you place an order is the version that governs it, and we will not apply a change retrospectively to an order already accepted.
